Alton, Hampshire, 29 September 2005. The much anticipated update to Compsoft`s rapid application development tool, Equinox, was released this week. The latest revision,V4.2, includes the capability to mirror data to SQL Server and was released after a rigorous testing regime, led by Technical Support Manager, Simon Burfield.

Much thought and consideration has been applied to this release, polling key partners and users on what they most valued in the upgrade. Compsoft's R&D team implemented the top 15 feature requests. Significant advantages released in this version include;

  • SQL Mirroring
  • Dual monitor support
  • Improved performance
  • Improved search capabilities
  • New dynamic application startup and exit events
  • User management control via method language

The team are understandably pleased with the fruits of their labour. Burfield commented, "This demonstrates Compsoft`s commitment to our extensive developercommunity. We took great care to understand their needs and those of the customersusing their applications in the real-world.

It`s been hard, but rewarding work and the team have risen to the challenge admirably.We`re particularly proud of the SQL mirroring functionality as it creates many opportunities for our developers to integrate much more easily with third-party systems. Developers will be particularly pleased that they can now use standard reporting tools such as Crystal Reports on clients' data. Personally, I'm pleased with the new method language commands, particularly the improvements in user management that will improve the security of the many systems in the field.
Overall, performance has increased and the new tools at the disposal of the developer will increase the speed at which they can develop and deploy business applications.
